Espresso Steak Rub

February 12, 2021

Although salt and pepper might be your conventional choice of steak seasoning, do you ever find yourself wanting to try something a little unique? That’s where this recipe comes in.

It might sound a little strange, but this espresso rub will bring out brand new aromas and a unique kick to your steak. The acidity in espresso coffee grounds works the same as the acidity in red-wine does. The pairing complements each other and enhances your meat’s natural flavour without overpowering anything. If you have some high-quality steaks like any of our sustainable grass-finished options, all you need now is a little leap of faith to try this recipe out!

Espresso Steak Rub

Servings:

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl until well mixed
  2. Rub onto steak and let marinate up to 30 minutes
  3. Sear on medium-high heat, avoid poking holes into the steak to avoid losing moisture.

If you’re looking into more perfect pairings for your steak dinner, read our guide here that talks all about the best wine pairings based on what’s on the menu for dinner. Our 100% grass-fed steaks are leaner than typical grain-fed options, so be sure to keep an eye on your cooking time and heat levels if you’re aiming for medium-medium rare doneness.
